CONFERENCE SOUTH

Non-League soccer has organised and re-organised itself considerably in recent years, with major changes and developments taking place to establish the Non-League Football Pyramid.  In 2004 the leading clubs below Conference level set up Conference North and Conference South as Step 2 of the Pyramid.  In the ‘South’, the 22-club section began in August 2004.  For the champions of the South and North sections, the prize was promotion to the National Conference, while the sides finishing 2^nd to 5^th in both sections went into a play-offs system, with the South winners playing the North winners to decide the third promotion place.
