2002-2011
The period 2002-2005 saw a significant change
take place in the Combined Counties League.
Starting these years as a single section
competition, the league combined with the
Surrey Premier League in 2003 to become a
2-division one. A year earlier, the Combined
Counties had welcomed a new club, AFC Wimbledon,
into its ranks – which livened things
up considerably in terms of attendance figures.
The new club spent two seasons in the league
before moving on. With a different club lifting
the title in each season, the Combined Counties
League was generally a competitive league,
though at least one team was ‘out of
its
depth’ in every campaign.
In 2002 Cranleigh left the Combined Counties
League, which was joined by AFC Wimbledon,
Frimley Green and North Greenford United.

2005-2006
The 2005-2006 season was to end with a number
of changes in the line-ups of the two sections
– probably to do with ground-grading.
A number of clubs lost their places in the
Premier Division, a clutch of new faces appeared
in the competition, three teams changed their
names and two teams left each section.

the season and the club’s record was
deleted. A major reorganisation of Step 5
took place and, as part of this, Farnham
Town, Feltham, Frimley Green, Horley Town
and Westfield were relegated. Banstead Athletic,
Camberley Town, Chertsey Town, Dorking, Egham
Town, Epsom & Ewell and Wembley all moved
into the Combined Counties League Premier
Division from other competitions. Godalming
Town and Mole Valley Predators left the league,
while Guildford United appear to have become
‘Guildford City’.
