SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS 1997-2004
In the opening season of the new league there
were five sections, with two Premier Divisions
and two 1st Divisions as the clubs in the new combination
competed for their places in the ‘pecking
order’ for the 1998-1999 campaign.
Nineteen of the sides which started the 1997-1998
season had left by the time the next programme
began with just three divisions.
Things settled down after this and although
there were a few departures, admissions,
name changes and one demotion in the following
two seasons, the Spartan South Midlands League
was operating reasonably smoothly as the
21st century arrived.
Many thanks to Ronald Price and the RSSF website for providing information used to complete
this section.
