The Haart of Kent County League
The league was founded in 1922 as the Kent
Amateur League. Up until 1995 the league
operated with two Regional Committees, but
at this stage it was decided to streamline
things and the whole league was brought under
a single Management Committee. The present constitution of the league
comprises 67 clubs with four senior divisions
and two reserve sections. In 2011,
the competition began a three-year sponsorship
deal with Haart, the national estate agency,
which is part of the Spicerhaart group of
companies.
With the formation of the Kent Invicta League
(Step 6) in 2011, the status of the Kent
County League became a Step 7 (suspended)
competition within the Non-League Pyramid. In view of the fact that a number
of its clubs had joined the new competition,
the Kent County League has been given a slightly
longer time-scale than other leagues to comply
with the F.A.’s Step 7 regulations.
Clubs from a number of smaller district leagues
may be eligible to gain promotion to the
County League. These include the Bromley
& District League, Canterbury & District
League, Maidstone & District League,
Rochester & District League and and the
South London Alliance.
