Notts & Derbyshire League history 1908-1912

The Central Alliance was founded in 1911.  In its first season the new competition had 12 clubs, seven of which had previously played in the Notts & Derbyshire League.  The second central Alliance campaign kicked off with 18 clubs, a further four teams having joined from the now defunct Notts & Derbyshire League.  The latter competition had lasted for only four seasons, but, as an important source of Central Alliance members, this page starts with the final tables from that league.

One particularly interesting ‘by-product’ of the research done for this page was to come across an independent Ilkeston FC website at www.ilsonfootball.co.uk which has vast amounts of detail about the town’s senior soccer side, including results, scorers, league tables dating way back.

NOTTS & DERBYSHIRE LEAGUE

The competition began in 1908 after the amalgamation of the Notts & District and Mid-Derbyshire Leagues.
